Let Mutual Love Continue
Dear Friends,
In Hebrews 13, the writer closes a long and powerful letter with these simple words: “Let mutual love continue.” After all the theology, all the reminders about faith and perseverance, the final instruction is this: keep on loving one another.
It strikes me that the church often searches for complicated answers—new strategies, bigger plans, better programs. But here, the blueprint is refreshingly clear. What sustains a church, what builds faith that lasts, is not flash or frenzy, but steady, mutual love.
This “mutual love” is family love—the kind that binds people together through joys and struggles. It looks like opening our doors in hospitality, remembering those who feel forgotten, lifting prayers for the hurting, giving generously, and praising God in all seasons.
And all of it is anchored in this truth: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” His unchanging love gives us the courage to keep showing love, even when the world around us feels uncertain.
So, I leave you with the question that Hebrews quietly presses on us: What then should we do?
The answer is already in front of us: Let mutual love continue.
This week, may we each take that command to heart. Look for one person to bless with kindness. Open your heart in hospitality. Offer your praise to God in the everyday moments. Share what you have. Remember those who are often unseen. And above all, trust that in Christ, our love is never wasted.
Together, we are painting a picture of God’s kingdom—a picture made brighter each time we let love shine through us.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Ernesto Sanchez
